HIGH SCHOOL
UPDATE
 August 19, 2016

The Duluth City Planning Commission denied our wetland appeal in July.  At this time, we are working with our attorney as well as the attorney representing the Snowflake landowner (Pacific Companies) and Tischer Creek Duluth Building Company to assess our appeal to the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources and other options as we continue to pursue the Snowflake site for our high school.  Our attorneys are optimistic on a positive outcome.  We are also working concurrently on other issues that present delay and expect our wetland issue to be heard sometime in the early fall.  However, we recognize that these processes are on a timeline we cannot control and we want to be responsible in our planning and to our students and their families.

To that end, we have decided to delay the opening of our high school as we work through these processes.  We want to affirm that it continues to be the Board’s intention to open a DECS High School and we continue serious and significant work on that path.  We will provide further updates as new information becomes available.
